Louise Aulkjær Ottesen started as state-auth. translator and interpreter on 1 November 2006. Louise took a master in translation and interpretation in Spanish from Copenhagen Business School with English as her second foreign language.
She worked as a freelance interpreter for the Danish Red Cross during her studies assisting refugees at doctor visits amongst other things, and was granted the state-authorisation as translator and interpreter in Spanish in 2002.

Louise translated medical terminology in an insurance company before joining the translation service of the EU Commission in Brussels as a trainee. During the traineeship she passed an internal concours for Danish proof-readers in the EU.
After the traineeship she continued as a translator in the Joint Translation Service of the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions in Brussels translating primarily from English into Danish.

In 2005 she passed another EU concours for Danish translators with English as first language and was one of the candidates who scored highest.
